On September 18th, 2024 a demonstration was held in Toronto to highlight the challenges in Grassy Narrows due to water contamination and mercury poisoning. The Indigenous community of Grassy Narrows has been devastated by this ongoing injustice and Canadians should have been standing with them to elevate their voices. Instead, the Pro-Palestinian protestors drowned out these injustices by making the protest about their agenda. What should have been a rally to support Indigenous people; became a rally in which anti-Israel slogans were chanted and children were labelled colonizers.
