What is apartheid?

People often spread misinformation about Israel.  It has been vilified as an "Apartheid State."

Let's examine some facts about Israel and decide whether it actually is an apartheid state or not.

The percentage of Arab Israeli physicians in Israel has been on the increase. By the end of 2021, Arab physicians constituted 24% of Israeli doctors aged 67 and younger. That same year, 43% of new licenses for physicians were awarded to Arab and Druze doctors. The share of Arab citizens in other healthcare professions is also considerable.

The Tapestry of the Israeli People

Apartheid, defined by institutionalized racial segregation and discrimination, does not accurately describe the social and legal landscape of Israel. The State of Israel is characterized by its diverse and vibrant population, which includes Jewish, Arab, Druze, and other minority communities living together within its borders. Israeli Arabs, who constitute about 20% of the population, enjoy equal rights under the law, including the right to vote, run for office, and access public services and education. This diversity is reflected in the rich cultural tapestry of Israel, where different communities contribute to a dynamic societal fabric. The country actively celebrates its multiculturalism through various festivals, educational initiatives, and legal frameworks designed to ensure equality. While challenges and tensions exist, particularly in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the internal dynamics of Israeli society do not embody the systemic racial segregation and disenfranchisement associated with apartheid.

Israel is the most diverse country in the Middle East. All citizens of Israel enjoy equal rights.

There are Arabs in all levels of government, military, and police force. Jewish and Arab students study in university together.

Although some Arabs choose to live in Arab towns, there are Arabs, Christians, Muslims and Jews live peacefully together in many Israeli cities.

Arabs can live anywhere in Israel while Jews cannot move freely or live in Arab-only towns.

So where is the apartheid?
